Like Italian? Pizzeria’s got you covered
On a recent evening, staff writer Tom Iacuzio — and his wife, Kayla — visited Mezzaluna Pizzeria in Palm Coast’s European Village. Mezzaluna is an Italian-style restaurant with a wide variety of classics as well as some Mezzaluna originals.
Q. What was your visual impression of the place? European Village as a whole is a unique place to hang out — plenty of shops and live music.
Stepping up to Mezzaluna is like walking into a cozy little bistro in Italy. It’s a very welcoming establishment with outdoor seating, which we decided to take them up on.
Q. How big was the selection? If you like Italian food, any Italian food, Mezzaluna has got you covered. Pizza? Check. Spaghetti? Check. Sandwiches? Check.
Q. What kind of entrees did you order? The evening started off with a Caprese salad ($9.95). For an Italian like me, the blended mix of fresh mozzarella, perfect tomatoes and roasted peppers is like the food of the gods, and this salad certainly lived up to its hype.
Next up were the entrees. I ordered one of the best eggplant Parmesan dishes I’ve ever tasted ($12.95). Kayla decided to go with the ravioli, complete with meatballs and sausage ($12.95). We topped off the meal by sharing a delicious tiramisu dessert ($4.50).
With two refillable sodas at $1.95 a piece, tax and a tip, our bill topped out at $56.
Q. What about the drinks? For those of you who like a nice adult beverage with your dinner, Mezzaluna has a good choice of both domestic and imported beers as well as a terrific wine list.
Q. Would you dine there again? In a heartbeat. Mezzaluna is a place that I can see myself going time and time again. And I look forward to giving everything a try at least once.
