Ocean Walk Resort — Daytona Beach Florida
Ocean Walk Resort is at 300 N Atlantic Av, Daytona Beach Florida. Ocean Walk Resort is an oceanfront resort on Daytona’s Boardwalk and is one of the newest resorts in Daytona Beach. The Ocean Walk project was long awaited by Daytona Beach — it bought a one of a kind resort to the area and the developers also built the Ocean Walk Shoppes and expanded the park area at the bandshell during the resort’s construction. Ocean Walk Resort benefits from being an entrance to the Ocean Walk Shoppes — which are directly south of the resort, as this makes the Ocean Walk location within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and night life.
Ocean Walk Resort has 2 towers — a south and north tower. Construction on the south tower was completed in 2003, construction on the north tower was completed in 2004. The resort features studios- 1, 2 or 3 bedroom condos available for nightly or weekly rentals. Ocean Walk has a very unique property ownership situation. Ocean Walk is a Wyndham Vacation Property. Which means that when the resort was built, the developer sold a % of the condos to private owners and also kept a block of condos available for timeshare ownership. The 2 ownerships types continue to this day.
In the south tower – condo units 01-19 on floors 4-19– privately owned or “wholly owned” condos are the 01 – 11’s on each floor, condos 12-19 are dedicated to Wyndham Property Owner’s Timeshare block of rooms. In the north tower — the developer put all condos up for sale then then sold off 49% as privately owned or “wholly owned” condos then allowed the unsold inventory to be added to the Wyndham Property Owner’s Timeshare block of rooms.
Renting a condo at Ocean Walk – since there are 2 ownership methods, there are also several rental outlets for each type. The Wyndham Company manages a 24 hour front desk service for the reosrt. Wyndham currently manages many privately owned or “wholly owned” condos. To reserve condos this way, see the resort’s website: www.oceanwalk.com. Some owners have chosen to manage thier own property rentals on websites such as this: www.vacation-daytona.com.
Wyndham Property Owner’s Timeshare block of rooms can only be reserved by timeshare owners. When staying at the resort, it is highly likely that you will be solicited to purchase thru their timeshare program. As this resort is one of the newer Wyndham property locations – it is not surprising that they are using this resort to attempt to increase timeshare sales. It is very easy to say “No ” and avaoid the sales pitch — just rmeber — a free breakfast is probably not really a free breakfast.
Just a disclaimer: we are whole owners and also timeshare owners. We use both methods to get condos for our vacation stays.

Greetings from Virginia!
We are coming for Bike Week 2009 – trailering hubby’s 2008 Ultra Classic dresser. Not sure if we’re staying the first half or the second half of the event and can’t get firm commitments from anyone to stay with us. So, what do you have in the way of a place for us that’s less than $1k/week? Anything? Thanks….

I love your site! Just wanted to ad that another way to own Wyndham is through points (versus a traditional week), which might help in in that it provides a lot of flexibility in stay length, etc.
