Daytona Beach Boardwalk – Mardi Gras
Continuing our walk along the Daytona Beach Boardwalk we find another great place to take the kids during a bad weather day or a place where you will loose teenagers for hours… or even husbands for hours…
Mardi Gras — The Arcade !! I saved this fitting post for today — I just could not wait for the official start of Mardi Gras — which is Feb 24th, 2009 !!
This place is as fun as Mardi Gras — well without beads…you know trying to keep it clean here for the kids…
We have a wide variety of games to play and some fun variations of old time board games — Monopoly was always one of my favorites…
The Mardi Gras faces are colorful and fun, but kinda creepy like a clown….
You will find the old type pinball machines and one of my favorites from the 70s which includes — bowling & centipede
The quarter slots are always fun!! Trying to beat the one -armed bandit !!
Gotta have the shoot em up games for the boys….
Clowns weird me out — I know it came from all those John Gacy clown pictures I saw as a child in Chicago — he traumatized me……
And this is where I usually hang out — by Ms Pacman. I even once seriously considered purchasing a Ms Pacman game for my family’s enjoyment, but came to the conclusion that a game like that in my house would suck up every free minute that I had and would very likely take over my life…. A stupid little known factoid — Pac Black is a Powder Coating color that was made famous by these little games and I got to have dinner with the man who became rich painting all of the Pac man machine bodies Pac Black in his powder coating shop in Villa Park, this was a brush with fame for me…..
Fun — Fun — good thing I limit myself to $5 in these places or I would be in here all day !@!
Oooohhhh… the fortune teller — like in BIG with Tom Hanks — loved that movie !!
I do — I add the clowns to creep myself out —
a few good games the the littler tykes….
One of these days all those quarters will be mine !!!
Perfect for the under 6 age group — great “ticket getter game”
The big screen games — I missed out on these and big wheels as a child !!
As you can see Mardi Gras is a fun place to kill a few hours. It is located next to Joyland and is an old throw back to my childhood — when hanging out near the game rooms was about as much fun as a kid could have.
