So the last time we came to Daytona — we got all dressed up and stumbled out to the little resort just past Dunlawton for Mike’s Pecan Rolls….. and Mike’s was gone. Place was empty, deserted, nothing but crumbs remained…
Mike was gone…no forwarding address….front desk lady shrugging at me ….while I kinda stood there in a stuper trying to remember if I had the right place….
Yep, Mike’s was gone — packed up — blew town — no pecan rolls in sight… which really upset my good friend Charlie, cuz I just talked up the Pecan Rolls something fierce and you know when someone has promised you something and you have a “taste” for it and then nothing is going to work until you have had that thing that you worked up an appetite for??? Well….WE were disappointed and almost despondant — cuz Mike’s was gone.
Then — just when you aren’t looking anymore……

We found the “Best Breakfast”
We found him !!!!
He is a bit farther north — but he is there and I skipped to the door knowing what I would find….

Mike’s has a great new location — it’s bigger and brighter and still homey….although I love eating along the ocean, this location is alot cleaner and brighter and as much as I love the pecan rolls — waiting for 30 minutes can be a really drag, and that happened a few times at the old place — cuz seating was limited…. looks like that problem will be solved here.
Same great yummy choices, I was gonna have pecan rolls — and a big breakfast — but decided to scale back…..and just have breakfast for 1…not 2 …like I could usually do..
So I had the corned beef hash and eggs — potatoes WELL DONE….and they actually made them the way I love them — crispy……..no body blinked when I asked for a slice of rye toast and a slice of cinnamon toast…. sometimes I can’t make up my mind……..
Gene had The California Mix….. taters same way….toast same way……
Almost took home a loaf of fresh cinnamon bread — but knew that I would have t fight the birds back at the condo….
Pointless to take fresh bread with on the plane…..
And here they are…maybe just 1 for the road…..these fit into suitcases better than loaves of bread….
Everything is homemade… homemade danish……

Thank you soooo much for telling us where Mike’s Galley moved to…my parents just got down to Daytona for their 3 month stay and liked to frequent Mike’s. They called me this morning to tell me that it was gone (my husband and I go down in March and LOVE the place too, his burgers are OUT OF THIS WORLD)!!!!! So I looked it up and here it was…Thanks again!!!!
I really appreciate you sharing this info with us. After an all-night drive from Tennessee, the first place we go in DBS is Mike’s for breakfast. If we couldn’t find him I’m afraid the whole trip would be ruined! That might sound dramatic but it’s true. Thanks again!
OH my was the food awesome. If your in Daytona and a breakfast person this is the place.
